Although Windows Media Center (MCE) systems are enticing to A/V
integrators due to their versatility and feature set, there is still
much apprehension when it comes to offering these devices to customers.
Installers associate MCE systems with those that are complicated to set
up, have a propensity to crash, are susceptible to viruses, are costly
to support, and do not provide attractive margins. Although Inteset’s
home entertainment systems are MCE-based, these concerns have been
addressed with its 2nd generation product line. Integrators can now
offer a complete, simple to use, robust entertainment convergence
solution that they can trust. See why below.
System Setup
In order to eliminate confusion and simplify setup, Inteset as
reduced the Microsoft Windows interface to encompass entertainment
function setup only. There is a simple installation launch pad that
assists in video, audio, and advanced control setup. VANA and Julia extender
systems are virtually plug-and-play and are configured to work with the
Denzel or Maximus servers right out of the box.
Stable/Crash Proof with Secure Lockdown
The greatest causes of system instability are the installation of
applications, email and attachments, and Internet downloads. Inteset has
created Secure Lockdown technology that protects against these elements.
Installers can easily lock out users from these features and the entire
Windows interface allowing access only to the entertainment features of
the system. In addition, there is a robust built-in firewall that
prevents unauthorized external access to the system. The Media Library
storage is protected with RAID 5 technology meaning if a hard
drive fails, the system will continue to run with no data loss
(pictures, home videos, music, etc). In this case, the failed drive can
simply be swapped with a functional one. If the operating system does
become corrupted, it can be restored to its last functional state with a
one button press upon system restart. In addition, the Maximus server
will auto notify dealers of drives that are about to fail or have
failed.
Minimal Support
Since the system is extremely stable, the only support required is
for usage training, media loading, or system upgrade service calls. If
issues do occur, Inteset support is available around the clock for
installer assistance. In addition, Inteset employs on all of its systems
advanced remote access tools which allow both the dealer or Inteset
support to log onto any Inteset system for training, setup, or
diagnostics/support purposes.
Upgradeable
New and exciting entertainment technologies are coming to market
faster than ever. Traditional A/V equipment can become obsolete quickly
due to its lack of upgradeability. Customers can be reluctant to turn
over outdated equipment since it was recently purchased and installed.
Since Inteset systems are fully upgradeable, dealers can offer the
customers the latest technologies without making major changes to the
system. When a new technology such as HD-DVD, Blu-ray, or
CableCARD comes to the
market, Inteset will provide simple to install system upgrade packages
resulting in additional sales opportunities.
Traditional Margins
Inteset offers significant value-add beyond the standard Windows
Media Center systems. With a combination of features offered by no other
vendor such as large, protected storage; advanced control for any
control device such as those from Crestron, or AMX; multi-zone music
capabilities; hard disk movie storage functionality; and extender
systems capable of distributing any content throughout the home, Inteset
systems virtually sell themselves at a price point that returns
traditional margins.
