Inteset offers a state-of-the-art, 24hr/7day/365yr, server monitoring service dubbed “Inteset Heartbeat Monitoring Service™.” Inteset remotely monitors all essential hardware, software, and network aspects of its media servers and advanced extender systems. This provides an automatic and proactive support mechanism for dealers creating greater customer satisfaction.

The monitoring agent on the media server will track elements including hard drive, fan, and power supply faults, low disk space, network bandwidth usage and connectivity, various applications including Media Center, system\CPU\video processor heat, and more. Each monitored system is remotely polled on a scheduled interval by Inteset to ensure uptime and availability. Scheduled system status reports are distributed to the dealer for each monitored system. All trouble alerts from a system are instantly distributed to Inteset for analysis and can be set up to be forwarded to the dealer as well. In addition, certain monitors will take self correcting actions on the system depending on the trouble. Below itemizes each monitored element on the Inteset media server or advanced extender system:

  • Disk Space Capacity – alerts when disk space is near capacity on the Media Library drive
  • Disk Drive Suspect/Failure – alerts if a drive is about to fail or has failed
  • Disk I/O Usage Capacity – alerts when maximum disk I/O on the Media Library array is reached or near capacity for an extended time period
  • System Fan Suspect/Failure – alerts when a system fan is about to fail or has failed
  • Power Supply Voltage – alerts when system power voltages exceed normal ranges for an extended time period
  • Network Bandwidth Usage – alerts when maximum network bandwidth is reached or is near capacity for an extended time period
  • System Memory Capacity – alerts when maximum system memory is reached or is near capacity for an extended time period
  • CPU Temperature Capacity – alerts when CPU temperature is near or beyond the recommended threshold for an extended time period
  • CPU Utilization Capacity – alerts when CPU utilization is near capacity for an extended time period
  • System Temperature Capacity – alerts when general system temperature is beyond the recommended threshold for an extended time period
  • Video Temperature Capacity – alerts when video temperature is beyond the recommended threshold for an extended time period
  • Improper System Shutdowns – alerts when the system was shutdown improperly
  • Application Failures – alerts when any application running on the system fails or terminates improperly
  • Inteset Communication Service Monitoring – alerts when the Inteset Communication Service stops running and restarts the service automatically
  • Media Center Monitoring – alerts if the Media Center service is using excessive CPU for an extended time period indicating that the program has hung and restarts the service in this case
  • Media Server Heartbeat – alerts if media server is not accessible over the local network – for Inteset Advanced Extenders only. Shuts down Media Center on the extender if this is the case and will restart Media Center when the service becomes available again
  • System Availability Heartbeat – Sends Inteset a heartbeat post periodically indicating the system is running and available over the Internet

The Heartbeat Monitoring Service™ is available on Vana VA6420-Si rev. b, Denzel TP420-Si, and Maximus MTCD10-Sx systems and above.
